In Arizona, a crime scene cleaner or biohazard cleanup company requires an Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Biohazardous Medical Waste Transporter License.
Also, a Maricopa County Medical Waste Hauler’s Permit is necessary. In addition, any company cleaning up crime scenes or biohazards requires a license from the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
Without those licenses, any work performed in this field is done illegally.
Licenses Are In Place To Ensure Safety
Due to the dangerous nature of pathogens associated with materials on a crime scene such as bodily fluids, blood or feces, the licensing is in place to ensure the cleanup and transportation of biohazardous medical waste is done in a safe manner.
